Iona Active Wellness at Saint Alban’s2024-02-02T17:07:35-05:00

The Active Wellness Program at St. Alban’s is held daily Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM at St. Alban’s Church on the grounds of the National Cathedral (3001 Wisconsin Ave. NW). Over the years, our free program has become a classroom for lifelong learning, a refuge for meditation and exercise, a parlor for engaging conversation and discussions, and a place for dear friendships to grow. It attracts older adults from the neighborhood and beyond who are drawn to the delicious (and nutritious!) daily lunch and diverse activities — such as a farmer’s market with free produce, exercise classes, and field trips.

Whether you enjoy dancing or knitting, poetry or piano, cooking or computers, writing or the study of history — the opportunity to contribute your talents and thoughts openly and creatively, and to expand your horizons is always available. And, of course, we always welcome your ideas and contributions about programming to make our monthly calendar of activities uniquely yours.

After so many years of having a routine, it was difficult when I stopped working. I came to the Active Wellness Program to have an activity and to be with people my own age. We share pains and joys. It has become like a family to me.”

— Alba Boyer, participant since 2013
