Have you ever been curious to know where certain textiles come from, how they’re made, and why certain fiber practices came to be? In this course, participants will take part in a lecture, discussion, and creation-based class that explores textiles from various parts of the world. Each class will focus on a specific region or style of textile, and students will partake in discussion about the processes, materials used, functionality, and the aesthetic appearances of them. Occasionally, students will be shown a basic technique or practice that can be done from home. Participants of all skill levels are invited to join this course.

There is a possibility for a field trip to a DC-based museum. If field trip plans are confirmed, participants will be informed well in advance and transportation will be available.

  • This is a virtual class, so having access to technology with Zoom and a stable WiFi connection will be critical
