In 2021, Laurette wrote, The Song in Lola’s Heart: A Story of Caregiving for Ages 6 to 76.  Lola, is 6 and ¾ when her best friend and grandmother, Babu (short for babushka) starts to show signs of dementia.  As Babu’s dementia progresses, Lola must find new ways to connect.  In addition to caregiving, the story weaves in themes of immigration, diversity and acceptance relevant for all ages.  The Song in Lola’s Heart can be purchased on Amazon.
